Sentinel Systems brings over 46 years of industry expertise to access control and management software for self-storage. Operators trust the platform for reliability and a customer-first approach.

Sentinel engaged Limestone Digital in October 2022. Together, Limestone and Sentinel modernized the product experience, strengthened day-to-day operations on the live platform, and built a delivery partnership that still runs today. The work spans research, design system, multi-device interfaces, production releases, partner integrations, and the next stage of architecture modernization.

The Challenge

An overhaul that had to keep earning trust in production.

  1. An overhaul, without a freeze

The existing system needed to become clearer, more modern, and easier to use. Not a cosmetic refresh, and not a freeze on live operations.

  2. Every device, one experience

Managers and tenants needed a consistent experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile, including dark mode for long working sessions.

  3. Secure access from anywhere

The platform needed a stronger path to secure remote use, better permissions and sessions, and partner-ready access integrations.

  4. Operators under pressure

Consolidation, rising costs, and aging workflows left little room for downtime. Payments, rent and reserve, letters, and daily ops had to keep improving on the live product.

WHAT WE DID

Solution

The platform, workstream by workstream.

  • Design System & Multi-Device UI

A shared UI foundation across desktop, tablet, mobile, and dark mode, so new work stays consistent as the product grows.

  • Payments & Financial Integrity

Stronger money flows across manager and tenant paths, including billing accuracy, ACH behavior, credits, and transaction clarity.

  • Rent, Reserve & Promotions

Smoother rental and reservation journeys for staff and tenants, including promotions, signing, and day-to-day lease work.

  • Access Control & Partner Integrations

Better access-control workflows plus API Marketplace and PTI foundations for partner and remote-gate paths.

  • Letters, Email Templates & Release Notes

Clearer tenant and manager communications, redesigned email templates, and in-app release notes tied to production updates.

  • Operations & Platform Reliability

System charger, property map, portals, sessions, permissions, CI/CD gates, and observability improved so live sites stay stable while the product advances.

System Architecture

Modernized under the hood, stable on top.

.NET 10 with ASP.NET Core on Azure, Angular 21 and TypeScript up front, PostgreSQL and Redis behind it, and Azure Service Bus carrying events. Development runs Docker-first with CI/CD quality gates through GitHub Actions and SonarQube, and the architecture is moving through CQRS, Event Sourcing, and Domain-Driven Design as modernization advances, without interrupting live sites.

Our support hours have gone down drastically, and we can deliver new features to customers much faster.

INSIDE ANYWARE

The product, as operators and tenants see it.

The manager dashboard with gate control, tenant operations, and live occupancy stats, and the tenant portal with units, balances, and payments, on one design system across desktop and mobile.
